On 25th January 1959, American Airlines began scheduled services with its new 707s on its longer sectors such as New York-Los Angeles. At its peak, the carriers fleet of 707/720s was one of the largest in the world, many remaining in service well into the 1908s. While many airlines utilised the white roof in their aircraft livery, one of the trade marks of American Airlines livery was a highly-polished overall aluminium finish. In 1968 a few turbofan-engined Boeing 707-323Cs were purchased, including N8410, which were operated from the airline's base at Dallas, Texas on routes throughout North America until withdrawn from use in August 1981.
